On the occasion of Rotterdam’s 650th anniversary in 1990, the association of Chinese entrepreneurs in Rotterdam and its surrounding area took the initiative to build this Dan Hua Pavilion. A typical example of Chinese garden architecture!
Dan symbolizes the city (coz Rotterdam = Lù tè dān) and Hua (huá) means Chinese.
It is otherwise known as “Het Dam Paviljoen” in Dutch.
This Chinese pavilion is located near the Euromast, along the street of Parkhaven. It is situated rather out of place, near a busy intersection on a green grass field.
Dan Hua Pavilion was officially opened on 28 August 1991.
