Miffy or ミッフィー, otherwise known as Nintje in the Netherlands, is a little white rabbit born on 21 June 1955. Born meaning first drew by Utrecht-born illustrator Dick Bruna (1927-2017).
On the corner of the Van Asch van Wijckskade and the 1e Achterstraat, on Nijntje Pleintje (Miffy Square), in Utrecht, you will find a minimalistic statue of Miffy.
This statue was created by Dick Bruna’s son, Marc Bruna. The simple two-dimensional bronze statue is a tribute to his father and Miffy. It was unveiled on 12 October 1994.
Dutch: Nijntje is pronounced as ‘nine-tjeh’.
