Marina Abramović @ Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam
Exhibition 16 March – 14 July 2024
I have only seen the art performances on YouTube. I must see them in person. So, I went.
We all know …
Marina Abramović (Belgrade, 1946) is a multidisciplinary artist captivating audiences by exploring art as a vehicle for mental and spiritual transformation.
The exhibition presents her major works ranging from the 1970s to today. Over 60 key works spanning five decades! From re-enactments of her legendary performances, as well as videos,
photographs, sculptures and installations. There are daily performances from 10.30 am to 5 pm. No schedule will be announced. You just need to be there!
My favourite would be the Fire Stages of Maya Dance – the work combines LED lights illuminating five alabaster portraits of the artist looking angst-ridden. Quite haunting!
The first major exhibition for Abramovic’s work in the Netherlands, marking the artist’s return to Amsterdam, her home from 1976 to 2002.
For the Marina Abramović exhibition, an additional charge of €10 applies even if you are Museumkaart holders.
Worth it!
